Gettysburg 2014 “The Last Great Invasion”
January 19, 2014
After the pace and scope of the 150TH Gettysburg Anniversary, Gettysburg 2014 promises to be a much, much smaller event;……and we are very, very excited about it! On July 4, 5, & 6 we are moving back to the beautiful Gettysburg Movie Site for the twentieth anniversary of the movie Gettysburg. Reenactors, visitors and staff all love this site that sits beside GNMP, with its pastoral terrain and magnificent views that overlook the historic Sachs Mill Covered Bridge, the Eisenhower National Historic Site and The Roundtops. This will be an event that allows both reenactors and staff to take more time to enjoy the smaller interesting scenarios, the beautiful surroundings, campfire chats and comradery.
Tickets are now on sale for next year’s Gettysburg reenactment on July 4, 5 & 6. Tickets make great holiday gifts. We are pleased to report that Generals Allen Baldwin & Brian Gesuero will be returning to command at Gettysburg in 2014. Last week we toured the site with General Baldwin and General Gesuero. They determined that this year both camps will be on the west side of the property, freeing up interesting and diverse ground on the east side that would be conducive to options such as Culp’s Hill, Benners Hill, East Cemetery Hill or Willoughby Run; either as a tactical or as a prelude to going into another phase of battle. A cavalry ride into GNMP through the Sachs Mill Covered Bridge and historic Eisenhower Metal Bridge is also anticipated. Having taken a deep breath and held it in last year – this is a year to exhale and completely enjoy.
